Author Topic: just diagnosed w/ melanoma & worried cancer will spread befor surgery next month  (Read 3133 times)

last week i was diagnosed with melanoma. i have to wait a little ovr a month to have surgery, and i am woried that the cancer will spread while i wait. is this a posibility?

hi julia - while melanoma is a fast-growing form of skin cancer, i do not think you have too much to worry about. they say that it can take as little as 6 weeks for melanoma to spread, and given that your surgery is a little over a month away, i don’t think you should be worried. i do not think yoru dr would wait over a month to treat you if he did’t think it was safe.
