New information on safety of tofu??
« on: July 24, 2019, 01:29:28 pm »
I know it’s been debated for years at this point, but I find it very unclear whether or not tofu is safe. I’ve heard rumors that it prevents cancer but have also read about a link to breast and ovarian cancers. Does anyone here understand it better than I do? I try to avoid adding meat to my diet so I don’t want to cut out tofu unless I absolutely have to.

so the good news is that soy can help prevent breast cancer, but diets really high in soy apparently can mess with your ovarian function. I have heard from others and online that a lot of times it depends on how much the soy has been processed. It’s always better to have less unprocessed foods in general. There is an article on the site that addresses soy here https://www.cancerhealth.com/article/still-unsure-soy and id still say asking your doctor is safest, but moderation in all diets is important.
