feeling guilty/have 3 daughters
« on: July 22, 2019, 04:42:02 pm »
Ever since my diagnosis i have been struggling with a lot of guilt...I have 3 young girls and my cancer is hereditary. I dont know how to tell them that one day this could be their life too. I feel so guilty that i cannot protect them from this and i really wish they did not ever have to worry about this. I love my girls and am trying to stay positive but it feels like this is all my fault!!

I have been there too, I look at my daughter sometimes and worry about her future. I think about her kids in the future and how I want to be there, and I never want her to have to feel this way. I try to push my daughter to live life to the fullest. I remind her to look at life with the glass half full view. Instilling this in my daughter keeps me positive for her future, and allows me to believe she will handle any obstacle with grace.

Hey ladies, Your daughters love you no matter what. It is absolutely no one's fault if anything is passed on, that just makes you family, and every family has their hardships. The best thing to do is be as honest as possible. It will let them know you love them more than anything, and that you trust them. Wishing you the best of luck.

I can only imagine how you are feeling, but I’m sure your girls do not (and will not) blame you for this. Just try to remember that this is not your fault! As for telling them what your diagnosis may mean for their future, it just means that you may need to be more on top of monitoring their health as they get older. Proactivity is a good thing and it is always better to catch something in the early stages, which is what you and your three girls will aim to do! Best wishes. xx
