Title: are freckles/spots on your feet a sign of cancer?
Post by: katiem on October 14, 2019, 04:07:14 pm
My mom used to worry about marks specifically on the foot, saying it was pretty unusual for freckles to be there so it could be cancerous. Recently I’ve noticed a few and am not sure how long I’ve had them but they look like normal freckles to me. Is this cause for concern just because they are on my foot?

I'm not a medical professional but I do have lots of freckles including on my feet. My dermatologist looks at all of them with the same intensity. It's never been mentioned as a hot spot for worry.

The biggest issue they always mention is to watch for something that changes in anyway. Gets bigger, redder, etc...

Know your ABCDEs. It is important to regularly check your skin for anything out of the ordinary. Freckles and moles are often harmless, but it is important to perform regular self-exams, following the ABCDEs (asymmetry, border, color, diameter, evolution). Contact your doctor if anything seems unusual.
